The Geography of Chronic Disease Risk

County-level model-based estimates of chronic disease prevalence.

Thursday, October 29, 2026Platform-neutralHealth · Development · Business Intelligence

Your analytical mission

Which counties show higher modeled prevalence, and why might local planning need a closer look?

This is a storytelling challenge, not a test of how many visuals you can create. Investigate the central question, choose evidence that answers it, and explain why the findings matter.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Choose one clearly identified outcome and one state.
  2. Compare age-adjusted county estimates with a ranked bar or dot plot.
  3. Highlight the five highest and five lowest estimated county values.
  4. Explain at least two limitations of interpreting ecological, model-based estimates.

Scope and data preparation

Use a single extracted state and single metric; a choropleth is optional.

Expected deliverables

  1. One-page geographic health profile with at least two visuals.
  2. One concise evidence statement and a planning implication.
  3. Indicator, geography, estimate type, year and data source.

Label charts clearly and cite the dataset and extraction date. Tell us which tool you used.

Quality guardrail

Use consistent age adjustment and do not interpret modeled estimates as individual diagnoses.

Required story structure

Question → Evidence → Interpretation → Action. Include a concise evidence-led title and a limitation where relevant.
