The Evidence-to-Action Portfolio Challenge

An approved health, development or business dataset and a learner-selected analytical question.

Monday, November 2, 2026Platform-neutralHealth · Development · Business Intelligence

Your analytical mission

What decision should a real stakeholder be able to make after seeing your evidence?

This is a storytelling challenge, not a test of how many visuals you can create. Investigate the central question, choose evidence that answers it, and explain why the findings matter.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Specify a realistic decision-maker, decision context and clear analytical question.
  2. Document source provenance, cleaning, assumptions and metrics.
  3. Create a well-designed, coherent analytical narrative with 3 defensible findings.
  4. Build a published dashboard or reproducible HTML report with 2 practical recommendations.
  5. Include one limitations section and evidence-based next steps.

Scope and data preparation

Learners may extend a prior challenge or use another publicly documented, approved source.

Expected deliverables

  1. Published portfolio artifact, PDF or screenshot fallback, and repository where practical.
  2. A 200–300-word executive narrative, two recommendations and full source credit.
  3. A short 2–3-minute presentation outline or recording (optional).

Label charts clearly and cite the dataset and extraction date. Tell us which tool you used.

Quality guardrail

Complexity is not the scoring goal. Reward accuracy, interpretation, narrative coherence and usable decisions.

Required story structure

Question → Evidence → Interpretation → Action. Include a concise evidence-led title and a limitation where relevant.

Submission checklist

Submit the completed dashboard/chart or report link, a fallback screenshot or PDF, your 100–300-word findings (depending on the day), your source citation, and a brief methodological limitation. Share publicly only if you have appropriate permissions.

Suggested LinkedIn tag: #SIAnalyticsDataVizChallenge. Mention the day and one evidence-based finding.

Traffic measurement & privacy

We count public page views to improve this website. Our analytics database stores daily totals by page and approximate country—not individual visits, IP addresses, form details or browser identifiers. Hosting providers process network requests under their own retention policies. We do not use this measurement for advertising or session recordings. Totals are retained for 90 days.

This does not measure unique people or connect your browsing into a journey. You can exclude this browser below. We also respect Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control.
