Where Is the Profit Really Coming From?

A structured Excel workbook with market segment, geography, sales, and profit.

Sunday, October 25, 2026Platform-neutralHealth · Development · Business Intelligence

Your analytical mission

Which business segments deliver the most sales and profit?

This is a storytelling challenge, not a test of how many visuals you can create. Investigate the central question, choose evidence that answers it, and explain why the findings matter.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Load the Financial Sample workbook and inspect the fields.
  2. Rank segments by sales and independently by profit.
  3. Identify one mismatch between sales leadership and profit contribution.
  4. Explain what a manager should investigate next.

Scope and data preparation

Use a single reporting period and filter consistently.

Expected deliverables

  1. Two sorted bar charts or a paired visual.
  2. A concise insight headline and a two- to three-sentence business interpretation.
  3. Source and output link or image.

Label charts clearly and cite the dataset and extraction date. Tell us which tool you used.

Quality guardrail

Use measures or sums, not row averages, for total sales and profit.

Required story structure

Question → Evidence → Interpretation → Action. Include a concise evidence-led title and a limitation where relevant.
